DESCRIPTION:
Reliability is critical to the telephone network. If network performance degrades for any reason, it must be addressed immediately. To report and system outages, to assist in the evaluation of network problems, and to permit remote configuration of networking equipment, the network equipment often includes a modem connection to a diagnostic port.
A modem module such as the XE5690SM provides the remote access needed to monitor the network. The operator can call into the modem to check network operations at any time. This modem is available for routine maintenance or for troubleshooting suspected network problems. The modem can also initiate a connection when a fault is detected in the equipment. This allows the network equipment to notify service before the problem seriously affects network performance.
