BACK-UP GENERATOR CONTROLLER
XE5617G, Miniature High Speed Modem Provides Remote Access to Emergency Generator.

DESCRIPTION

Back-up power generators are used in many industries where the loss of power can be disastrous. These industries include hospitals, server farms, and sensitive industrial processes. After recent high profile disasters even private homes are securing back-up generators. The most advanced of these generators include a sophisticated controller to monitor the operation. These controllers have the ability to log the values of key parameters and report significant anomalies before they become system failures.

A modem such as the Cermetek XE5617G embedded into the controller provides a critical link in reporting system status. Whether reporting significant problems as they occur or allowing routine diagnostics to be run remotely between uses, the modem provides a lifeline to the emergency back-up generator. Alarm conditions will often be reported via fax to more quickly reach a real person who can act o the situation.

Why Cermetek?

The generator may be installed in many different environments. To ensure modem reliability, a hermitically sealed modem is preferred. Cermetek supplies the XE5617G modem module as a sealed unit. Only the leads are exposed to possible environmental hazards. The XE5617G package also fits a standard 68-Pin PLCC socket allowing it to be offered as an option or installed as an upgrade in the future. The modem needs to support data and fax transfer to permit machine to machine and machine to man alarm reporting.

The XE5617G also permits 56 Kbps data transmission. The high speed modem connection permits the maximum data logging at the generator as the control systems become more sophisticated.

Key Features
