XE900S500; 900 MHz, Frequency Hopping Embedded Wireless Module Links Moisture Sensors. |
DESCRIPTION:
The farming areas of the western United States depend upon irrigation to permit agriculture in arid lands. The water formerly dedicated to agriculture must now be shared with a large residential population. This squeeze forces the farmer to seek more intelligent use of the available water.
Sensors planted in the ground can determine the available ground moisture. With that information in hand the farmer can develop his irrigation plan but getting the information from the sensor to the farmer is an obstacle. Laying cable over hundreds or thousands of acres would be prohibitively expensive. Cellular service is expensive if it is available at all and 802.15.4, short-haul wireless solutions do not have the required range. The answer the farmers have discovered is moderate power 900 MHZ solutions, like the XE900S500
Why Cermetek?
The XE900S500 has a transmit power of up to 500 milliwatts. This power provides a range, in optimal line-of-sight conditions of up to 20 miles. Even when obstacles like trees or a thick fog are introduced the range can still reach a1000 feet or more. In addition the XE900S500 includes the patented SensorOnAir feature which permits sensors to be read remotely with a single command from the system controller. Those sensors can also be connected directly to the XE900S500 communications controller eliminating the need for separate micro-controller at the sensor node.
Key Features
• Long Range Regardless of Conditions
• I/O ports for Sensor inputs
