DESCRIPTION
Water treatment systems protect the environment by preventing untreated waste water from polluting clean water sources. It also helps to provide clean water to an ever growing human population. Water is in increasingly rare supply in wide areas of the world. A growing population and the specter of global climate change threaten to dramatically increase the number of people affected by water shortages. Increasingly sophisticated water treatment systems are working to keep up with that demand.
Like any control system, water treatment systems rely on feedback. An embedded modem, such as the Cermetek CH1794A, allows feedback from the most remote parts of the system. A downstream water quality measurement can be inexpensively accessed via a dial-up modem. Failures in remote pumping stations can quickly reported to the water treatment center. Storage levels in water tanks, chemical tanks, and waste water tanks can be monitored.
