CH1840; FCC Registered Telephone Line Interface Enables Radio-Telephone Autopatch. |
DESCRIPTION
An Autopatch allows a radio operator to tie radio communications into the telephone network. The autopatch unit controls the telephone line connection by initiate dialing or permitting the unit to answer an incoming call. To complete the telephone line connection the autopatch unit includes a telephone line interface or DAA (Data Access Arrangement). At a minimum the telephone line interface provides isolation barrier, a hook switch and a ring detector. The specifications for the telephone line interface performance are largely set by FCC Part 68 Rules
Like all equipment that connects to the telephone line the autopatch must have FCC Part 68 registration. Part 68 rules regulate the required isolation protecting the telephone network, the impedances presented to the telephone network, and the voltages that may be placed on the network. Compliance with the rules must be confirmed by a Telecommunications Certifying Body or TCB. Design and test for Part 68 compliance will cost thousands of dollars. This cost can be substantially reduced or eliminated through the use of a FCC Registered telephone line interface module like the CH1840.
Why Cermetek?
The Cermetek CH1840 is an FCC Part 68 Registered telephone interface module. FCC rules permit that registration to be conveyed upon Cermetek customers who use the module in accordance with the data sheet. Use of the CH1840 saves time and cost in the development, test and certification of the autopatch unit. The CH1840 DAA module also provides a clear audio signal path.
