XE5692H, low-cost Embedded Modem Module, Connects Satellite Receiver.

DESCRIPTION:

Radio networks transmit programming to affiliate stations over satellite links. Satellite receivers at the affiliate location do more than receive the programming. They can play the programming live or store it for a later broadcast. The receiver also logs all activity verifying the program, including all of the commercials, are broadcast per the contractual obligations. This stored data is retrieved by the network through a diagnostic port. In most instances that diagnostic port is connected to a modem.

Because these receivers can store large caches of data a high speed modem is needed to provide the diagnostic port connection. The fastest dial-up connections are provided by V.92 modems like the Cermetek XE5692H. Small modem size minimizes the impact of the modem on the total receiver design.

The XE5692H offers a full V.92 modem in a miniature surface-mount module. Supporting both the V.92 modulation and V.42 error correction, the XE5692H provides an ideal modem for a high volume diagnostic port. At just 1.6 inches by 0.8 inches the XE5692H also has minimum impact on the overall receiver design.
